A bill strictly prohibiting “animal crushing,” The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act, recently passed the United States Senate unanimously. That’s right. UNANIMOUSLY.
Measures like this prohibit “conduct in which one or more living non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians is purposely crushed, burned, drowned, suffocated, impaled . . .”
Yet every day in America, living children are crushed, poisoned, impaled and brutally dismembered in their mothers’ wombs.
If the United States Senate can speak with one voice on animal cruelty and torture, it should certainly be able to do the same in response to human cruelty and torture.
And many members want to. But they need your help, because they face fierce and – frankly – inexplicable opposition from Democrats, who consistently vote to kill these babies instead of protect them.
With Republicans in the majority in both Houses of Congress and the Presidency, this is our best opportunity since Roe v. Wade to pass meaningful legislation to curb abortion – the cruel and inhumane slaughter of children in their mother’s wombs.
But with the 2018 elections on the horizon, coupled with a volatile political environment, this door of opportunity may not be open long.
